Scott A. LoganScott A. Logan began studying martial arts under Sifu Manuel Rodriguez in 2001. He has experience with Southern Praying Mantis, Tai Chi, Hung Gar, Shuai Jiao, Kam La, Ch'i Gong, and Jujitsu. He has competed in competitions internationally including full contact televised matches in China and teachesat Red Dragon Kung Fu in Ventura, California. He is a certified and licensed massage therapist and bodyworker. Scott received his AA's in Music and General Liberal Arts from Ventura Community College in 2008, and is currently studying Traditional Chinese Medicine at Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, California.

Joshua Murphy Rodriguez

Joshua Murphy Rodriguez has been studying under his father Sifu Manuel Rodriguez for the past five years. Joshua Murphy Rodriguez has training in Chu Ga southern praying mantis, Tai Chi Chuan Yang Style, Escrima, Ju Jitsu, and 8 Step Praying Mantis. Joshua Murphy Rodriguez also is a full time student at Ventura Community College attaining a double degree in Music and General Studies as well as receiving a certificate in holistic medicine, Joshua Murphy Rodriguez also plans to Attend Emperors Traditional Chinese Medicine school to become a full-fledged traditional Chinese medicine doctor. Joshua Murphy Rodriguez also practices and teaches classical guitar along with his father Manuel Rodriguez.

Sifu Rodriguez has dedicated his life to learning, perfecting and teaching an expansive range of martial arts and classical guitar. Best known for his mastery in Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan and Southern Praying Mantis, Sifu Rodriguez has also earned a 4th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do; 2nd degree black belt in Judo; 2nd degree black belt in Shito Ryu Karate; 1st degree black belt in Hakuryo Ju Jitsu; 3rd degree black belt in Shuai Chiao as well as mastering White Eye Brow and Butterfly Hand.

Sifu Rodriguez background in music started in his childhood at St. Francis de Sales Catholic School in New York City, N.Y., where he was tutored in guitar, harmonica and fundamentals of music.  Later in life Sifu Manuel decided to pursue a music degree with an emphasis on classical guitar and voice at Ventura College, CA.  It was at this point he had the privilege to study with Burns Taft, Cesar Mateus, Carlos Gonzales and Lee Porter.  Because of Sifu Rodriguez’s love of classical guitar, he founded the San Buenaventura’s guitar and string ensemble music school which performs at various churches and venues throughout Ventura County and beyond.

Sifu Rodriguez also coaches acclaimed world champions for international, national, and regional martial arts tournaments. A few of his better known champions include Goodwill game Tae Kwon Do Silver and Bronze medalists, Robert Ross and "Sly" Lawson, as well as Judo champion Tara Peacock for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. You can expect to see more champions to come!

Of course, Sifu Rodriguez also has a long and impressive list of medals and awards won prior to his teaching career. The United States National Chinese Martial Arts Competition, with participants from over 40 countries, provides competitors with their world ranking in every style of Chinese martial arts. In 1991 and 1992, Sifu Rodriguez was ranked #1 in Southern Short Hand; #1 in Stationary Push Hands; #2 in Moving Push Hands; #2 in Sparring; #2 in Sticky Hands (Chi Sao); #3 in paired forms; and, #3 in Open Weapons.
