| In the
western world, the term Kung Fu tends to be immediately associated with
fighting or action-packed martial arts movies. However, in practice, it is much
more than just a fighting style. It is a way of life that is as much about
self-evolvement and spiritual development as it is an extremely effective form
of self-defense. At American Shaolin West, you will not only develop superior self-defense skills, you will gain a healthier attitude toward life. The term “Kung Fu” can be interpreted as any endeavor that is approached with the attitude of slow and persistent perfection over a long period of time. In fact, roughly translated, kung fu means "persistent effort." Kung fu can be applied to any art or skill that requires persistent, disciplined practice and effort in order to perfect, such as playing a piano or performing gymnastics. |
